- Yorkley is a village in west Gloucestershire, situated in the heart of the Forest of Dean, near the town of Lydney.
- Interestingly, the name Yorkley is thought to derive from Old English, with historical records showing cottages in Yorkley and Yorkley Slade from as early as the 1780s.
- The village has two pubs (the Bailey Inn and the Nag’s Head Inn), a sub post office, a primary school, and is home to Yorkley FC.
- Notably, Yorkley had a working men’s institute from 1892, and a new institute was built on Bailey Hill around 1910.
- Yorkley Onward Band started in 1903 and its hall, built in 1913, has been used for village activities ever since.
