This year’s fabulous Intelligent Instructor Awards ceremony was held virtually on the 13th February 2022, as it was last year. The awards recognise all kinds of excellence within the driving training industry and showcases some of the best instructors across our country.
The awards ceremony brags 10 awards that can be won by instructors, including Regional and National Driving School of the Year and Driving Instructor of the year. The latter category allows for students to vote for their driving instructor, whereas some of the other awards are judged by a judging panel, which this year included Liz Brooker MBE from Road Safety GB and Francis Noakes, the founder of Driving School TV.
There were a huge 100 driving instructors shortlisted for an award, and 20 of those are Total Drive customers, driving instructors who love to use our app to help them run their business smoothly. They are:
Jim Primrose of Primrose Driving School
Nicky Harris of The Driving Academy
Nick Cook of Nick Cook’s Most Excellent Driving School
Lewis Reeve of Elite Driving Academy
Neil Kershaw of Neil Kershaw Driving School

John Beswetherick, Kate Jones, Lewis Reeve, Mick Knowles and Neil Kershaw all received ‘Highly Commended’ for their regions.
And of course, we have to shine a light on ourselves too. The Total Drive App received ‘Highly Commended’ for Support Provider of the Year once again, a feat we’re very proud of.
Roger Griggs, Communications Director at Kwik Fit, said: “Even with all the advances in automotive technology, the most important factors in road safety are still the behaviour and skills of the person behind the wheel. It’s vital that good habits are instilled from the first moments in the driving seat, and Kwik Fit is delighted to be supporting the instructors and organisations who are setting young drivers off on the right road.”
Simon Winstanley, Key Account Manager for Michelin, said: “The professionalism and knowledge of driving instructors are the foundations for a lifetime of good motoring habits. That’s why Michelin is extremely happy to be supporting young drivers and the industry in this way.”
