DVSA Update (19 June 2026): Learners Can Now Use Reset Driving Test Changes Online

DVSA has updated its guidance on test changes following a policy change on 19 June 2026.

What changed?

Learners whose driving tests are changed by DVSA (due to bad weather, centre closures, or other reasons) are now reset to 2 free changes again. Importantly, as of 19 June 2026, those reset changes can now be made online — previously, learners had to phone DVSA to use reset changes.

Why this matters for learners

Before 19 June 2026, if you had exhausted your 2 free changes and DVSA changed your test, you’d get 2 more free changes — but you could only use them by calling DVSA. Now, with a single click online, learners can reschedule without the wait.

This speeds up the rescheduling process and gives learners more control over their test dates.

How to use it

  1. Log in to GOV.UK’s book a driving test service
  2. If your test has been changed by DVSA, you’ll see your reset changes available
  3. Choose a new date and time online
  4. Confirm — done

For driving instructors

Remind learners about this option if their tests are changed. Online rescheduling is faster and reduces frustration — especially during peak demand periods.
